LVN/Paramedic to ADN Transition Program

We are a technical program, and subject to change at any time to meet the requirements of our approvals and accreditation.

 

The LVN/Paramedic to ADN Transition Program is designed for Licensed Vocational Nurses and Licensed Paramedics in the State of Texas.  This program is offered on the south campus of San Jacinto College, located at 13735 Beamer Road in Houston. We will not accept certified EMT's nor Paramedics; you must be licensed in Texas.

 HESI LPN-ADN ENTRANCE EXAM for Licensed Vocational Nurses

  • This exam is a 75-item comprehensive exam, limited to 1 hour and 53 minutes, designed to be used as an exam for Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurses seeking entrance into an Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) program. The exam identifies their strengths and weaknesses in LPN/VN content areas, and the possible need for remediation prior to entrance into an ADN program. Test items are normed on LPN/VNs currently in clinical practice. Measures competencies across LPN/VN content areas. You are limited to one exam at San Jacinto College. No minimum required score, points are based on exam composite score (see Admissions Rubric above).

HESI EMS-ADN ENTRANCE EXAM for Licensed Paramedics

  • This exam is a 50-item exam, limited to 1 hour and 13 minutes, designed to be used as an exam for Paramedics or EMTs seeking entrance into an ADN program. The exam identifies their strengths and weaknesses in ADN content areas and the possible need for remediation prior to entrance into an ADN program. Test items are normed on the EMS-ADN population. Measures competencies across basic nursing content areas. You are limited to one exam at San Jacinto College. No minimum required score, points are based on exam composite score (see Admissions Rubric above).

                                 The ADN Transition Office will be closed on July 4th, 2019.

The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) and the Texas Board of Nursing approves the ADN Transition Program.
The program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and regulated by the Texas Board of Nursing.

Please Note: Effective January 1, 1996, a person who has been convicted of a felony may be disqualified for obtaining licensure as a Registered Nurse.  After turning in your completed application, you may be contacted for further information by email.

 

Please be advised the ADN Transition Nursing staff will not make copies of documents or print applications for applicants. All required documents for application to the program MUST be submitted as a complete packet. Incomplete packets will be immediately returned to the applicant for completion and resubmission is expected of the student prior to the application period deadline. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Late applications will not be accepted.

Applicants must submit copies of official transcripts for every college attended. You may request photocopies from EPCC, with the Transcript Specialist, in S-6.120, after submitting official transcripts to Admissions. If an applicant attended any campus of San Jacinto College, then official transcripts from San Jacinto College should be included in the application packet, as well. There are no exceptions to the Grade Point Average (GPA) cumulative or pre-requisite requirements.

It is suggested that applicants will attend an information session, however it is not mandatory, for each application period that you are interested in, as information is subject to change. Registration is not required, however, seating and entry is based on a first come, first serve basis. In preparation for the information sessions, please be on time, and prepare questions for the end of the session.

First Time Pass Rate on National Council Licensure Exam for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN ®): 88.33%

· Students completing the program within 150% of program length:  97.62%

· Graduates job placement:  94%
