Kevin Holden - Professor and Lead Faculty

Kevin received degrees in theatre from the University of Texas at Austin  (BFA in acting and directing) and the University of Houston (MFA in scenic and lighting design).  He has designed shows for Main Street Theatre (The Reluctant Dragon, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever), Stages Repertory Theatre (Rounding Third, Always Patsy Cline, Grey Gardens, Speech and Debate, Ferdinand the Bull, and The Marvelous Wonderettes), the Catastrophic Theatre Company (Spirits to Enforce, Hunter Gatherers, Life is Happy and Sad, and Blue FInger), Brave Dog Player (Reckless), Mosaic Theatre (This is Our Youth), The Back Porch Players (Jewtopia), Mildred’s Umbrella (The Last Five Years), The Classical Theatre Company (Tartuffe), Rice University (The Beggars Opera), and the University of Houston (The Danube, A Streetcar Named Desire, Death of a Salesman).  Kevin directed Red Light Winter, Fault Lines and Among the Thugs for Horse Head Theatre Co., and is the current artistic director for Horse Head Theatre Co. 

Ralph Ehntholt - Adjunct Faculty

Ralph Ehntholt graduated with his Master of Fine Arts Degree from University of Houston in January of 2000.  He has been a theatre instructor for over 30 years.  He has been involved in every type of professional theatre in the Houston and Galveston area.  He appeared for six seasons at the Houston Shakespeare Festival as well as having been a guest artist at Stages, The Alley, Main Street Theatre , A.D. Players and The Strand Street Theatre.  He believes in a hands on and experiential  approach to learning how theatre can be a unique and exciting art form with a major focus in learning how to strengthen the tools necessary to becoming a professional actor.

Cheryl L. Kaplan Zachariah – Adjunct Faculty

Cheryl L. Kaplan Zachariah is in her third year teaching for the Drama Department at San Jacinto College South. She has worked as a Writer, Director, Teaching Artist and Theatre Arts Integration Specialist with a variety of theatres, universities and organizations across the country in various roles bringing theatre to the community in both traditional and non-traditional theatre settings. Some collaborators include Main Street Theater, The Alley Theatre, The Ensemble Theatre, The Strand Theatre, SecondStory Repertory, Seattle Repertory Theatre, A Contemporary Theatre, Seattle Children’s Theatre, The Village Theatre, Stage One, and organizations such as Mothers for Clean Air, The AIDS Coalition, The American Heart Association, Teen Health Clinics, and Resource and Crisis Center of Galveston County. For Main Street Theater’s MainStage, Ms. Kaplan Zachariah has directed The Busy World Is Hushed and Homebody / Kabul (both in the Houston Chronicle’s Best of 2007) and Awake and Sing! (Houston Chronicle’s Best of 2009), which was critically acclaimed by the Wall Street Journal 2009.  She received the EPA Clean Air Excellence Award for her program Ozone Theater and the Linn Wright Special Recognition Award from the American Alliance for Theater and Education for the uniqueness and efficacy of her programs in the community. She has a B.A. from Indiana University and an M.F.A. in Directing for the theater from University of Iowa. Ms. Kaplan Zachariah has enjoyed living in the Houston area for seven years.
