San Jacinto College Food Pantry
The San Jacinto Food pantry was established in Fall 2013 as a student run food assistance program that distributes food products to any enrolled SJC student in need.
Apply for assistance in person at the Student Engagement & Activities Office, Educational Planning Counseling & Completion Center, or by dropping off a completed form at the Food Pantry drop box. You can also use the online form.

San Jacinto College Food Scholarship Program
San Jacinto College offers the Food Scholarship Program in partnership with the Houston Food Bank to provide technical students pursing an Associate of Applied Technology or Occupational Certificate in their first semester of study are eligible to get free groceries while working on their certificate or degree. This program is only for eligible students attending Central or North campus.
Café Meal Assistance Program
The Café Meal Assistance program is provided by Student Engagement and Activities based on responses to questions on the Food Pantry distribution request form. The assistance represents individual meals up to $8.00 that a student can purchase in the Café on SJC campuses.
There are three ways students can access the Café Meal Assistance Program:
- NOW program – students make a request directly to personnel in the Cafés.
- Food Pantry Distribution – students are assessed for participation when they complete the Food Pantry request form.
- EPCC Distribution – students who request other emergency aid are assessed in EPCC and are directed to SEA for meal assistance.
Carl Perkins Childcare Grant
San Jacinto College offers funding for childcare assistance to eligible students pursuing an Associate of Applied Technology or Occupational Certificate.
In order to qualify, you must be:
- Enrolled in a career or technical certificate or degree program with an active degree plan at the south campus
- Be enrolled in at least six credit hours on campus. Online, pre-requisite and/or college preparatory courses do not count.
- Maintain satisfactory academic progress.

San Jacinto College and Workforce Solutions
San Jacinto College works with Workforce Solutions to provide childcare assistance to eligible students. Please visit your nearest campus Financial Aid Office to complete an application or email them at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Scholarships and Financial Assistance
San Jacinto College Scholarships
Scholarships are awarded each fall and spring semester to help San Jacinto College students pay for tuition and course related books and supplies. Scholarships are available to all SJC students in various programs of study. By completing the general application, you will be considered for all scholarships for which you meet the criteria. Only one application per student is required.

Students may be eligible to receive an emergency short term loan to cover their registration expenses (tuition, fees, books and supplies) until their financial aid becomes available. Additional information can be obtained from any San Jacinto College Financial Aid office.
Mental Health Counseling
San Jacinto College provides free short term counseling and resource information to any student requiring assistance. For additional information, contact Educational Planning, Counseling & Completion at any of the three campuses or by email at Educational.Planning@sjcd.edu.

San Jacinto College also provides free online mental health screenings for all San Jacinto College students. Mental health screenings are a quick way to determine if you or someone you care about may need to reach out to a doctor or mental health professional for an evaluation.

San Jacinto College Coat Closet
The San Jacinto College Coat Closet is available to provide assistance to students in need with access to donated coats, sweaters, and other winter apparel.
Students can access the Coat Closet by completing the Coat Rack Request Form available at www.sanjac.edu/engage or in any Student Engagement and Activities Office.
Foster Care Liaisons
Foster care liaisons are located on each campus and are housed in both Financial Aid and the Educational Planning, Counseling and Completion (EPCC) offices. The liaisons assist Foster Care alumni with transitioning to college and with applying for available benefits. Enrolled foster care alumni are identified at the start of each semester and are assigned a case manager through EPCC.
