The Accuplacer ESL as a Second Language (ESL) tests are computer-adaptive tests intended for use in placing nonnative speakers of English into ESOL courses. ACCUPLACER ESL tests include ESL Reading Skills, ESL Sentence Meaning, ESL Language Use, and ESL Listening. Each test requires test takers to answer 20 items.
The ESL Language Use measures your ability to use correct grammar in English.
The ESL Reading measures your ability to read English.
The ESL Sentence Meaning measure your ability to understand the meaning of sentences written in English. The sentences are based on various subjects such as history, science, practical situations, etc.
The ESL Listening measures your ability to understand English when it is spoken.
The WritePlacer ESL gives you an opportunity to show how effectively you can develop and express your ideas in writing.
Each campus allows walk-in testing for the Accuplacer ESL test. You will need to see an Admissions Advsior to obtain a Testing Request Form and you can bring the form along with your photo identification card to start testing.
