About the Market

In Fall 2013 the San Jacinto College Food Pantry was started as a student run food assistance program that distributed non perishable food products to any enrolled SJC student in need.  Beginning in September 2019, the Food Pantry became the San Jacinto College Food Market with the support from the Houston Food Bank. The Food Market is a part of the Houston Food Bank Food for Change program. The expansion into the Food Market will allow for students to self select perishable and non perishable items weekly throughout the semester. The Food Pantry is committed to serving the student body of all San Jacinto College students.

Hours of Operation

September 4 - December 13, 2019

Central Campus (located in C17.236)
Wednesdays: 12:30pm – 6:00pm 
Thursdays: 12:30pm – 5pm 
Fridays: 12:30pm – 2:00pm & by appointment 

North Campus (located in N12.211)
Tuesdays: 12:30pm – 5:00pm
Wednesdays: 12:30pm – 6:00pm
Thursdays: by appointment only

Maritime Campus: Students may utilize any of the Food Markets at central, north or south.

 

South Campus Food Market will open in late September 2019.  Until then, please fill out the Food Pantry request form below to receive non-perishable food assistance. 

South Campus (located in S11.111)

Tuesdays: 12:30pm- 5:00pm
Wednesdays: 12:30pm – 6:00pm
Fridays: by appointment only

 

There is no pre-registration needed to utilize the San Jacinto College Food Markets.  Simply show up to the Food Market at any of the times they are open, and you will be able to receive weekly food assistance.

You may request food by applying in person during regular office hours at the Student Engagement & Activities office, Admissions or Educational Planning Counseling and Completion Center.  For expedited service, however, please fill out the forms online and submit them at the Student Engagement & Activities Office or the Educational Planning Counseling and Completion Center or by using the drop box at the Food Pantry.

DONATE

If you have a small donation simply bring the items to the Student Engagement & Activities between 8AM-5PM Monday thru Friday or drop the items in one of the yellow donation bins around campus. 

For larger donations please contact your Student Engagement & Activities Office to arrange a drop off time.

If your organization is interested in hosting a food drive to benefit the Food Market, please contact your Student Engagement & Activities Office.

(Dish Soap, sponges, Clorox wipes, floor cleaner)

Toiletries

(Soap, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss, lotion, razors, feminine hygiene products)

Baby Items

(Diapers, wipes, formula, rice cereal, baby food)
