Joe has been a tutor at San Jacinto College since 2011, and he can help students with physics, chemistry, economics, accounting, and college-level math courses ranging from pre-algebra to differential equations. He has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and a B.S. in Business Finance. Joe has real world experience in both engineering and finance, and he is on the way to obtaining his Professional Engineering license. Joe also has past licenses for stocks, commodities, and bonds.
Eric is currently working on a Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics at The University of Houston- Clear Lake. He is a math tutor and has been working in the Success Center for about four years. When he finishes his degree plan, Eric plans to teach and further his education at the graduate level by working on a master's degree. Eric hopes to be a mathematics professor at San Jacinto College someday.
Josh is currently a graduate student in Cross-Cultural Studies at The University of Houston- Clear Lake. He holds double bachelor's and an associates degree. Josh has worked at San Jacinto College for 10 years tutoring writing. He recently began teaching courses in the College Preparatory Department. Josh loves tutoring and looks forward to helping more students in the future.
Eliud currently has two bachelor's degrees, one in math and one in physics. He also teaches a developmental math class at North Campus. Eliud currently tutors all maths, chemistry, and physics. He loves to help people and enjoys helping students realize their own potential.
Russell is a nursing student who currently attends San Jacinto College Central. He is pursuing a bachelor's degree and is planning to transfer to U.T. Health Science Center in the spring of 2017. Russell tutors English and Anatomy & Physiology, mostly. His hobbies include doodlin', writin' stories, and bowling. His Hogwart's House is Slytherin and his favorite color is pink.
If you make your way down to the Student Success Center, you may be lucky enough to spot the elusive Timothy walking among the computer rows, helping those in need of academic writing help. Some have said that on his down time he may peruse through books or scribble down a line or two. It should be noted that Timothy lives on a strict diet of dark chocolate and over flattering compliments. He studies towards his English Degree at the university nearing his dream of being an English Professor.
Bobbie has been a tutor at San Jacinto College Central since January of 2007. She received an A.A. in May of 2008; her main concentration was geology. Bobbie currently tutors geology and BCIS/ITSC.
David has been a tutor for San Jacinto College since 2013. He specializes in tutoring health science related courses, such as chemistry and human anatomy & physiology, as well as science-based nursing courses. David is currently in his last semester of nursing school here at San Jacinto College Central. He will be continuing his B.S. and Ph.D. (DNP) at UT Health Science Center in Houston's medical center. His passion in life is seeing growth in both his patients and his students ("tutees" as he calls them). He hopes to one day be an advanced practice nurse as well as teach here at San Jacinto Central as biology and nursing faculty.
Luke has been a writing tutor for the past three years and says he has loved every minute of it. He has met people from all walks of life during this time, and he always looks forward to meeting more. Luke currently attends The University of Houston- Clear Lake; he is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, with a goal of entering into the Human Factors Psychology master's program. In his off time, Luke enjoys board games, card games, and other table-top games that involve social interaction. When alone, he enjoys reading books, particularly sci-fi and fantasy.
Rhiannon is an English and writing tutor. She has worked at the Student Success Center at San Jac since March of 2014. In May of 2016, she graduated from The University of Houston- Clear Lake with a Bachelor's Degree in Fitness and Human Performance. She will be going back to UHCL next year to obtain a master's degree in the Exercise Science program. In the meantime, Rhiannon is studying for her NSCA personal trainer certification while volunteering as a strength and conditioning coach at a private school. Rhiannon enjoys playing guitar and watching and playing sports. She is an avid cat lover, and she recently purchased the car of her dreams: a 2016 habanero orange convertible Beetle!
Jeanette tutors accounting; she loves accounting so much that she has decided to obtain another degree to go along with her previous bachelor's degree and graduate school work. She is currently attending San Jacinto College and expects to graduate in Spring 2017 with her associate's. She then plans to obtain a Master's in Accounting and to teach accounting on a collegiate level. Jeanette likes to give odd analogies to students to help them understand accounting principles (there are lots of cookies, she really likes cookies). When she is not studying, tutoring, or working at her other jobs, she likes to read, watch TV and attend Comic-Cons.
In addition to being a Math and Science Tutor at the Student Success Center, Justin aspires to be a SI Leader in all kinds of science and math subjects. Also, he is majoring in math and geology at the University of Houston Clear Lake. He fell in love with math at a very young age by noticing the importance that mathematics plays in our modern world. Justin feels that being a SSC tutor has been a very giving experience. He feels joy when he helps students understand their homework, while making students feel less stressed out. One day, Justin would like to apply mathematics to geology and the environment to find out how to improve our lives in a very precise way. As for non-mathematical pleasures, Justin likes music and the outdoors. He is a part of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and the National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Jordan is a senior physics student at The University of Houston- Clear Lake. Physics is his major; math is his passion. After graduating in the spring, Jordan hopes to pursue a graduate degree.
Juan is currently a junior majoring in computer science at The University of Houston. He has been a tutor for about two years. Juan loves tutoring people; for the most part, he tutors math and some of the sciences, like chemistry and physics, but math is his strong point. Juan has a lot of hobbies that he enjoys when he has the time outside of work and school, but his main hobby is music. Juan knows how to play six instruments... he jokes that he is not great at playing any of them, but finds that, like with most things, he can always be better. In the future, Juan hopes to finish college with a bachelor's
Jose is a math, physics, and chemistry techie. He likes to tinker with computers and software. Jose is currently an undergrad student studying Petroleum Engineering at the University of Houston.
Sean is currently attending The University of Houston for a B.S. in Mathematics, with maybe a financial option and/or a Teach Houston option, which would give him career options in either business or teaching. The majority of Sean's time goes towards school and work, but what he enjoys doing is spending time with his baby, Buddy, who's the most spoiled little Pomeranian ever. Both his and Buddy's hobbies include sleeping, eating, and all around just being lazy. Sean's best friend is Natalie Galvan even though she has him on her dislikes list and their babies aren't friends...yet.
Keijiro is a graduate mathematics student at The University of Houston- Clear Lake. He graduated from The University of Houston in 2015. Keijiro tutors math and has been working at the Student Success Center for about 2 years. He likes animals, and he cooks in his spare time.
Ken started working as a tutor at the Student Success Center in the Fall 2016 semester. He is on his second year at San Jac and will pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering at The University of Houston. In his free time, Ken enjoys playing basketball and soccer, as well as playing the guitar. If you ever need math or chemistry tutoring, his hands are always open to help.
Jeanette graduated from Nursing School at San Jacinto College Central in December 2016. She works at the Student Success Center as a tutor for nursing students. Jeanette enjoys helping others, especially new San Jacinto students who may need help getting oriented to the campus and learning about our free services at the Student Success Center.
Paolo attends the University of Houston for Mechanical Engineering. He likes to look at and customize cars by going to car shows. Paolo has 2 Miniature Schnauzers who are brothers (AKA the Schnau Bros) and a Conure (the alarm). If you would like to know anything else, Paolo says, "Just put up your pink slip."
McCade is a student attending San Jacinto College- Central Campus, and he plans on getting his Associate's Degree in General Studies here. He would like to transfer to a university and earn a business degree. McCade tutors mathematics, computer applications, and psychology, as well as a few other subjects. He likes to sing, act, and dance, thus he participates in choirs and community theatre.
Saeed is studying Business Management at San Jacinto College, and this spring is his second semester. He currently works as a part-time math tutor at the Success Center. Saeed tutors basic math all the way through Calculus 3 and Differential Equations. He previously used to study engineering and had a keen interest in math. He enjoys doing math and will be more than happy to help other students with any math they are working on.
Andrea is currently pursuing a degree in Social Work and hopes to transfer to UHCL. You can usually find her buried in a book or sipping coffee between tutoring sessions. After graduating, she plans to volunteer in the Peace Corps and then use her Social Work degree to advocate for children. Andrea loves getting to explore her passion for words and the power they have to prompt change. However, her favorite part of being a writing tutor is getting to help other students in the process.
Tammy is a writing tutor at SJC and an English Literature student at university. She was also a first-year peer mentor at UHCL. Similar to how Jane Eyre's "cadeau" was the praise of her pupil's progress (Bronte 271; ch. 13), Tammy believes one of the best gifts is being able to help others improve and grow. It is no surprise then that her passions include education and she intends to continue working in the educational field. Tammy understands the struggles of writing and critical thinking on an undergraduate level and hopes she can share what she learned over the years with other students. Feel free to ask her questions and she will try her very best to answer them!
Jacob is a Music major who tutors English at the SSC. This focus is mutually beneficial to Jacob. He explained on one occasion that "obtaining and maintaining knowledge on the subject is vital in the music world. Tutoring is also exceptionally enjoyable, especially when I get to read essays with interesting topics." Jacob did not start out as a legible writer. In fact, he retook the English STAAR test 5 times before graduating high school. However, after a lot of work, tenacity, and perseverance, Jacob rose up the ranks in his English courses here at San Jac, receiving exceptional merit in the field. This eventually led to Jacob receiving a position tutoring the subject he once could not understand. Now, he is grateful for the opportunity to share the knowledge he obtained from all his English courses. Jacob enthusiastically helps those with hardships similar to his own.
Jason is currently working on his Associate's Degree in History at San Jac Central. He works in the Central campus library as a history and writing tutor. After receiving his bachelor's, Jason wants to pursue teaching U.S. History at the high school level along with coaching Track and Field. When not on the clock, you can usually find him outside or in the game room shooting pool, most likely complaining about something or other. Jason enjoys scary movies and metal music. Don't be afraid to approach him even if he seems exhausted or dead to the world; that's his natural form.
Kaylinn is currently a student at San Jacinto College. In May 2017, she gradauted with her associate's and is now pursuing a career in Nursing. She is looking forward to taking part in the Nursing program here at San Jac in the fall. Kaylinn's dream job is to be a Pediatric Oncology Nurse.
Margaux is currently attending San Jac North, pursuing her dream of being a pastry chef. After she obtains her degree, she would like to go for her chef training degree. Although Margaux finds the modern art world questionable, she considers herself an artist in the world of pastries. In her spare time, Margaux relishes in the activity of puzzle building.
