DIFFERENT STEPS FOR DIFFERENT TYPES OF STUDENTS

International students come to San Jac in many ways. Some are already in the U.S. while others are coming here for the first time from their home country. There are certain admission steps you must take according to which category you fall into. Find the information that applies to you—and remember, we’re available to help you through the process and answer your questions. Please upload all of of your F-1 admissions documents in PDF using the following link: Application for I-20 Form*


*The username name will be your San Jacinto College Student G number. The password will be the password to your SOS student account.  Select the type of application, complete all information, and upload all of the required F-1 admissions documents.

Transfer Students Residing Inside the U.S.

Looking to transfer to San Jac from another U.S. school as an international student? You are eligible to transfer as long as your F-1 status is valid at the time of transfer, and you may be admitted for any semester throughout the year.

Concurrently Enrolled Students

If you’re an international student enrolled in another college or university, you can still apply to study at San Jac at the same time. Find out how you can apply for concurrent enrollment.

Students Residing Outside the U.S. (Initial Applicant)

Interested in studying at San Jacinto College as an international F-1 visa student? If you live outside the U.S., you will be considered an Initial applicant. Learn more.

Changing Visa Status

If you’re in another visa category and would like to enroll in college credit courses as an F-1 student, you may be eligible to apply for a Change of Status.

Undocumented Immigrants

At San Jac, we welcome everyone. It’s our policy to admit and enroll eligible undocumented immigrants. Get more information on eligibility requirements.

General Application Priority Dates

Applications must be received on or before the priority date listed below. If your application is completed after the priority date, your admission will be deferred to the next available semester.

Summer (classes begin in June) February 15

 

Note: There may be certain Academic programs that F-1 international students are not allowed to enroll in.

 

Required Documents

Here are a few items you’ll need to apply to San Jac:

Passport

You must have a valid passport for at least six months from date of enrollment. If you need to renew your passport, contact an official consulate from your home country. 

F-1 Student Visa

This document is issued by the American Embassy in your home country. It states the time period during which you are allowed to enter the U.S. and how many entries are permitted. The dates do not indicate how long you can stay once you’ve entered. You can stay as long as you maintain your F-1 Visa status.

I-94 Card

When you enter the United States, U.S. Customs and Border Protection has automated Form I-94 at the port of entry. A traveler lawfully admitted (or paroled) into the U.S. may print their lawful record of admission (I-94 form) from the CBP website.

Form I-20

This is the form San Jac gives you when you’ve completed all your requirements for admission. It serves as validation of your student status and shows all permissions granted to you. Keep this with you at all times.
