The Medical Office Professional program at San Jacinto College prepares students to work in a medical office setting. It will provide a foundation for more advanced medical records careers. Students learn to maintain medical facility records, record patient data on computers, schedule patients for their procedures and appointments, and process medical billing and insurance claims.
Foundational and practical knowledge of office procedures, medical records, medical terminology and pathology is important in careers at larger facilities like hospitals and surgical centers as well as smaller out-patient clinics and doctor’s offices.
The Phlebotomy Technician program will teach students how to properly use vacuum collection devices, syringes, capillary skin puncture, butterfly needles and blood culture, and specimen collection on adults, children, and infants.
In this program, students wil have a work-based learning experience with direct client care. These courses enable students to apply the theory, skills and concepts learned in basic phlebotomy class in a supervised clinic or lab setting.
Linked courses are a great flexible option! You can take a continuing education course, then later you can apply the course to your degree or certificate. It's helpful if you're not sure you want to pursue a degree or certificate, but want to get started with a class. There are a couple of things to know. Enrollment in linked courses is limited, you are exempt from taking the TSI assessment, and courses adhere to the CPD refund policy.
