As a first-time college student, deciding to apply is the first step. Congratulations! If you’re a high school graduate or have high school equivalency and you’ve never attended college before, follow the steps to make your application process as easy as possible. If you need any help getting through the process, reach out to us. We’re here to help!
To apply, create an account with ApplyTexas and choose San Jac in your application. The application is free and there is no deadline. You will receive an email confirmation once you submit your application. You will receive an acceptance letter via email within 48 hours.
It’s official! You now have a San Jac account in our Secure Online System that we call SOS.
If you’re under the age of 22, you must receive a vaccination or booster against bacterial meningitis prior to registration. This is a legal requirement for all Texas college students. A few things to note: vaccination must be within the last five years, it needs to be MCV4 and not Meningitis B, and must be received within 10 days of the semester starting.
You may be required to take a placement test. San Jacinto College uses the Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA) exam to determine college readiness levels in math, reading, and writing.
Send your official high school transcripts or your high school equivalency certification to our records management office. You can take classes at San Jacinto College for one semester without submitting your official transcript, however, financial aid will not be awarded until all official transcripts are received. All foreign transcripts must be evaluated by an approved third-party evaluator.
Learn more about San Jac and become more familiar with the campus at orientation. All new students must attend. Learn more about new student orientation and sign up for a session through SOS.
After meeting with a Program Advisor, you can register for your classes through your SOS account. If you need additional assistance, you can visit the Student Services Labs on any campus.
Students can visit with a Student Ambassador in the Student Services Lab located in the Welcome Center at each campus.
