Naulings named Chief of Police at San Jacinto College
PASADENA, Texas — Sabrina Naulings has been named the 10th chief of police at San Jacinto College, effective Aug. 1, 2022.
Naulings, who has served as the interim chief of police since January, has been at San Jacinto College for three years as a police lieutenant prior to taking on the interim chief role. She brings with her more than 25 years of law enforcement and public safety experience.
"I am honored and excited to be appointed as the next chief of police at San Jacinto College," said Naulings. "This marks the culmination of a journey that I started 16 years ago. My desire was not for the fame nor fortune but to share and give back the knowledge and skillsets that I learned from my mentor. It also marks the start of a new journey to leave a lasting, positive impact on the careers and lives of the police personnel in which I serve and the entire San Jacinto College community."
Naulings has been with the San Jacinto College Police Department since 2018. As police lieutenant she was responsible for leadership, support, development, and accountability for police personnel, both sworn and non-sworn. She helped to ensure that members of the police department conformed to general orders and the policies and procedures of San Jacinto College.
While the safety and security of the entire San Jacinto College community is a top priority across the district, Naulings notes that campus safety is a collective effort.
"We rely on the San Jacinto College community to serve as force multipliers," she said. "Students, faculty, staff, and visitors should immediately report suspicious occurrences and any information that has the potential of being important to law enforcement or the San Jacinto College Police Department."
Prior to arriving at San Jacinto College, Naulings spent 25 years with the Houston Independent School District Police Department.
"Chief Naulings will continue to lead the excellent police department we have at San Jacinto College in partnering with our students and employees to ensure that our campuses remain safe and welcoming places to learn," said Teri Zamora, San Jacinto College vice chancellor for fiscal affairs. "Chief Naulings is a transformational leader who sees the big picture and has an unwavering commitment to safety and security for our entire College community."
Naulings will oversee a San Jacinto College police force of more than 50 full-time officers and telecommunicators that monitor all five San Jacinto College campuses, as well as the College's numerous extension centers and administration buildings.
"My overall goal as the chief of police is to cultivate an environment where students, faculty, staff, and visitors feel safe to perform their day-to day functions," added Naulings. "I also hope to promote the San Jacinto College Police Department as a competitive workplace that attracts and retains quality personnel, and I will work to ensure that current employees have the training and resources needed to effectively perform their duties."
Naulings holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Houston Downtown and a master's degree in criminology from the University of Houston-Clear Lake.
