San Jacinto College softball coach Kelly Saenz recently earned her 700th victory when the Ravens defeated Kilgore College on Feb. 12.
Saenz has been with San Jacinto College since 2004 and has been a driving force in the success of the softball program. Last season, San Jac became back-to-back conference and regional champions on their way to their sixth National Junior College Athletic Association World Series appearance.
"Coach Saenz is a tremendous coach and a great mentor to our players," said Allatia Harris, vice chancellor of strategic initiatives at San Jacinto College. "We are extremely proud of her accomplishments and the dedication she has shown to the softball program."
Before coming to San Jacinto College, Saenz played professionally for the Smitty Midget girls division team in 1995 and 1996, leading that team to two of three consecutive Canadian championships. She is a member of the Manitoba Softball Hall of Fame and the Softball Canada Hall of Fame. She has earned numerous awards for her coaching, including the National Fastpitch Coaches Association South Region Coach of the Year in 2008 and the NFCA National Coach of the Year in 2011.
